Fine “garden of paradise" design Persian Bakhtiari rug. 100% natural, vegetable dye, hand woven, baby lamb's wool pile on cotton foundation. Bakhtiari rugs are woven by migratory Bakhtiari tribes living in the west and south western part of Iran. This is a charming and colorful garden of paradise design Bakhtiari. This is a unique size for a Bakhtiari, in that they usually are woven as larger pieces. It is intriguing to know that the panel design was adopted from the matrix formed by the irrigation channels in Persian gardens, and so the name, ‘garden of paradise''. Although Bakhtiari rugs may not have high knot counts, one should bear in mind that Bakhtiari weave is very well packed with a fairly lush pile. Size: 6 feet 2 inches X 4 feet.
