Fine and early W&S butcher Sheffield Bowie with fancy cast and philligried German silver hilt showing Victorian bird motif. Approx 14” overall with 9-1/4” clip point blade and early sharpened false edge. 1/4" stock showing fine quality of the early period, approx. 1835. Fancy S-Shaped crossguard. Stamped “Warrented of the Best Quality” on the blade flat. Early hand-etched on both sides of the ricasso and both sides of the blade flat. In near fine original condition with original polish, original edge, full dimensions and tip, and just minor normal aging and spotting. Also the blade shows a semblance to a “Spanish notch” at the choyl (rear of blade edge). Hugh Hayes Collection. Est: $6,000 - $12,000
