Fine and Fancy Germanic Zimmerschutzen Gallery Rifle, by Georg Greiss in Munchen, 4mm, 26'' octagon barrel with gallery barrel approx. the forward 7-1/4''; double set adjustable trigger, fingerloop lever, fancy checkered and carved walnut stock with high pronounced Schutzen cheekpiece and Swiss buttplate, with tulip-ear pin and post front sight. This gallery rifle appears to be earlier than mosthaving been converted from a percussion rifle. Sideplate and hammer with Germanic scroll and game scenes. Carved stock with scrolls, acorns, and stag's head to area immediately behind cheekpiece. Blued barrel is inlaid with small amounts of gold, platina scrolls, and bands both at breech and muzzle. Rear sight is present. Condition is about fine. Barrel retains approx. 92% toning rust blue that was probably redone at time of conversion. Stock with minor repairs, moderate flattening to checks, and cross-sectional loss to offhand thumbrest (which can either be repaired or el!
iminated). Simplified loading gate apparatus is in good working order. Nice crisp action, smooth light trigger pull, ignition method is via percussion cap with small lead balls inserted thru the muzzle. Est.: $1,200-$1,800.
