Fine U.S. Smith & Wesson 1899 Army Model Double Action Revolver

This is an extremely fine example of a desirable U.S. Smith & Wesson Model 1899 Army DA revolver. Out of the total production of 20,975 manufactured from 1899 to 1902, only 1,000 were delivered to the U.S. Army in 1901 in the serial number range of 13,000 to 14,000. The barrel has the two line address/patent dates marking on top and caliber marking on left side with the underside of the barrel numbered to the gun and marked with a "P" and "K.S.M." The right rear of the frame is marked with the inspector mark "K.S.M." and the large "S&W" trade mark logo is marked on the right side. The butt is marked "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1899" and the matching serial number is marked on the front strap, rear cylinder face and bottom of the barrel. Fitted with checkered grips with the diamond pattern around the screw, "J.T.T./1901" marked in a circle at the top of the left panel and "K.S.M." on the right top.

Very fine. The revolver retains 85% plus original bright high polish blue finish showing thinning to a brown with a few areas of mild spotting and a few scattered series of minor scratches. The hammer and trigger retain 75% original case colors. The grips are also very fine with a few minor handling marks and some wear in the overall crisp checkering. The inspector markings on the grips are crisp. Mechanically excellent.
