This Remington Model 1903 A4 Sniper rifle was manufactured in 1943. The rifle is fitted with the correct Weaver M73B1 Telescopic Sight with cross-wire reticle and click adjustable windage and elevation knobs. The stock has the 'scant' pistol grip and the right side is correctly notched for bolt clearance. The barrel, receiver, telescopic sight base and rings are parkerized. The barrel bands, trigger guard, buttplate and bolt are blued. The upper and lower barrel bands, trigger guard/floor plate and buttplate are all the correct, stamped Remington components. The bolt has the distinctive milled handle found only on M1903 A4 rifles. The telescopic sight base and mount screws have the correct, case-hardened, finish. The telescopic sight has a commercial blue finish. The receiver has the special markings used on M1903 A4 rifles; the left side of the receiver is roll-stamped: "U.S./REMINGTON/MODEL 1903 A3" in three lines below the scope base. The right side of the receiver is roll-stamped with the serial number, "3410052" to the right of the scope base. The barrel, correctly, was never fitted with a front sight and is roll-stamped: "RA" followed by the Ordnance 'Shell and Flame' insignia above "4-43" below the rear sight mounting. The barrel bands, magazine cut-off and bolt components all have the correct Remington "R" markings. The trigger guard is the correct, early pattern with small trigger guard bow. The right side of the telescopic sight base has the correct "REDFIELD" markings. The telescopic sight data plate is roll-stamped: "TELESCOPIC M73B1" followed by the Weaver patent markings and address. "SERIAL NO 21608" is marked on the right side of the scope tube next to the date plate. The scope serial number is electro-penciled on the tube. The left side of the stock is stamped: "RA" followed by the Ordnance Escutcheon and the final inspection mark: "FJA" in a rectangle. The encircled "P" proof mark is stamped on the inside of the pistol grip behind the trigger guard. The numeral "5" and several Remington sub-inspection symbols are stamped on the underside of the stock in front of the trigger guard. The rifle is complete with an original, WWII, M1907 russet leather sling. This rifle appears to be completely original and shows no indication of having been over-hauled after WWII.
