Fine Selection of Autographs and Manuscripts

Auction Details

We are pleased to announce our latest auction catalog featuring fine autographs and manuscripts in all fields of collecting. The auction will be in two parts and will include a live auction to take place at the Shelburne Murray Hill Hotel, 303 Lexington Ave. (@37th. St.) New York, NY on March 2, 2002 with an absentee auction closing March 6, 2002 at 10:00pm Eastern Time.

Dozens of lots shall include prominent figures and events of the Civil War and the American Revolution, including a proposal in the hand of Signer Arthur Middleton calling for the death penalty for people caught trading with the British; fine Civil War correspondences and images; a letter from James Madison to Thomas Jefferson detailing the faculty recruitment efforts for the University of Virginia. Of particular interest are documents from the estate of Judge Irving Kaufman who tried and sentenced Ethel and Julius Rosenberg to death for espionage in 1951 including his appointment as District Judge for the Southern District of New York signed by Harry Truman as well as his appointment to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals signed by John and Robert Kennedy. We are also pleased to offer a fine selection of material concerning the assassination of John F. Kennedy including candid snapshots taken on November 22, 1963, suits worn by Jack Ruby, as well as fine content documents and letters of Kennedy, Oswald and Ruby. As usual we will also offer lots sold on an absentee basis, closing Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at 10:00 P.M. Eastern Time.

We will hold a public viewing for lots offered in the live auction on Friday, March 1, 2002 at the Shelburne Hotel from 11 A.M. to 5 P.M. and Saturday, March 2, 2002 from 9 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. Viewings at our offices may be arranged by appointment.
