A striking, handwoven Navajo textile in the highly regarded Two Grey Hills regional style. This piece showcases a sophisticated geometric design executed entirely in natural, undyed handspun wool tones, including ivory, beige, a range of grays, and deep brown/black.
The central field features a sequence of large, interconnected serrated diamonds, a classic motif often symbolic of the Four Corners region or mountains within the Navajo belief system. These motifs are intricately detailed with interior designs and outlined by fine serrated lines. The main border complements the field with a continuous "running water" or "mountain" pattern on a light ground, framed by a dark outer edge. The use of only natural colors and the tight, fine weave quality are hallmarks of the craftsmanship associated with weavers from the Two Grey Hills and Toadlena trading areas.
