Manufactured from 1876 to 1891. The distinctive features of the No. 5 Pacific Rifle include a ramrod mounted under the barrel, double set triggers and a ring shaped lever, all of which this rifle has. The rifle is equipped with German silver blade front, adjustable buckhorn rear and tang peep sights. The barrel top flat is marked "40-63" at the breech. The left side of the receiver is marked "MARLIN FIRE ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CT. U.S.A./BALLARD'S. PATENT. NOV. 5, 1861." with the serial number marked on the underside of the receiver. Blue barrel with remaining parts casehardened. The rifle has a smooth varnished forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Condition: Extremely fine. The barrel retains 90% plus original blue finish thinning to a brown. The remaining metal surfaces retain 70% original case colors. The wood is excellent with some minor handling marks and retaining most of varnish. Mechanically excellent.
