<td width="100%">
A fine Famille Rose-Medallion plate, ca.1850. Dimensions: 9" diameter. The plate is decorated in falancai style of mixed or blended enamel colors. This one more commonly known in the west as famille-rose. The design has 4 panels surrounding 5th center medallion. Two of these panels has finely painted court scenes.The other 2 panels have a nature scene with peony blooms, butterflies, birds and assorted flora. The entire design is painted in famille rose enamel color along with gilt. The reverse of the plates is white enamel and has a smokey grey color from age (possibly once tomb buried). There is a slight hairline crack that is only visible on the reverse (see enlargements). It may be a firing flaw. Alas in any event, it is not all detracting. Overall condition consensus is very fine condition.
