Half-moon German silver front sight and hammer notch rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked "+COLT'S PT.F.A. MFG. Co./ HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A./ No 1+", and the underside has the serial number. The frame has some light scroll engraving and a checkered spur trigger and hammer. The grip area is solid steel, with shallow checkering on the sides, deep, sharp checkering on the backstrap, and the serial number repeated on the butt. This was the first single shot pistol that Colt produced. Approximately 6,500 were made.

Very fine. The barrel retains 60% original thinning blue showing wear along the high edge as well as some light spotting. The frame retains 70% of the silver plating with almost all of the loss on the left side. The markings and engraving are crisp and clear. Mechanically fine.
