Fine Colt Model 1849  Wells Fargo  Percussion Revolver
Manufactured in 1854, this particular Colt Model 1849 revolver has a three inch octagon barrel with no provisions for a loading lever. The revolver is in the correct 109,000-111,000 serial range for the "Wells Fargo" Model 1849 revolver without loading lever. The top barrel has the two New York address inside brackets and the frame is marked "COLTS / PATENT" on the left side. The 5-shot cylinder is roll-engraved with the stagecoach holdup scene. Matching numbers on the cylinder, barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap and wedge. The underside of the barrel is factory marked with the letter "P" and the number "8" is stamped on the frame and trigger guard along with the serial number. One piece varnished grip. Wells Fargo models are a desirable and highly sought after variation of the Colt Model 1849 pocket series.

Condition: Fine. The barrel retains 40% slightly faded original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The cylinder has a smooth brown-gray patina with a clear roll engraved scene. The frame retains some silvered out case colors with the balance a smooth gray patina. The brass retains 90% original silver plating. The grip is very fine with most of the original varnish and some minor dings and scratches, with a few minor pressure dents on the bottom. Mechanically excellent.
