Fine Colt 1855  Root  Sidehammer Pocket Revolver
Manufactured in 1856. The top barrel flat is marked with the pointing finger, "COLT'S PT. / 1855" flanked by Maltese crosses and "ADDRESS COL. COLT / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." flanked by Maltese crosses. The cylinder is roll engraved with the cabin and Indian scene and the matching serial number is marked on the butt and cylinder. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and loading lever, and fitted with smooth varnished one piece nicely grained walnut grip.

Condition: Very fine. The barrel and frame retain 75% original blue finish with scattered flaking. The exposed areas have a crisp smooth gray patina. The cylinder retains 30% original finish mixed with smooth brownish gray patina with a clear scene and marking. The hammer and lever retain 90% of the bright vivid original case colors. The high figured grip is excellent with 97% original "piano finish" varnish, some very minor lower edge wear, and a few minor dings. The barrel marking is crisp and clear. The action is fine.
