Presented in this lot is a Fine Chinese Cloisonné Vase, circa mid 20th Century. Graced with wonderful colour and classic cherry and lotus floral design, displays a desirable aged patina. Cloisonné, also called copper padding thread weaving enamel, is a kind of traditional enamelware and one of the most famous metal handicraft of ancient China, known as ‘Jingtai Blue' in China, is the technique of creating designs on metal vessels with colored-glass paste placed within enclosures made of gold normally, but also of copper or bronze, wires which have been bent or hammered into the desired pattern. Cloisonné enamel objects are worked on with enamel powder made into a paste, which then needs to be fired in a kiln. This is painted on freehand and so does not use partitions to hold the colours separate. Eight colours of enamel are used to create the floral motif of this cloisonné against the blue-green background fret, a border of ruyi heads at the top, ruyi clouds along the bottom border. This vintage Cloisonné vase is in fair to good overall condition, some dents observed, scratches noted to brass finish. Measures 14.5"H, 8" diameter, 5" diameter mouth, 5.5" diameter base approximately. Weight approximate 3lb, 14oz
