Fine British Proofed U.S. Property Marked Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless Semi-Automatic Pistol with Original Box and Extra Magazine

This is a beautiful example of a highly desirable WWII "U.S. Property" marked Colt Model 1903 semi-automatic pistol as manufactured in 1942. In addition this exceptional pistol also has the correct WWII British proofmarks on the slide, barrel and frame indicating that it was provided to Great Britain in the early days of WWII under the "British Lend Lease Act". This act provided much needed weapons to Great Britain in defense of the homeland. The left side of the slide is marked with the Colt Hartford address and 1897 and 1903 patent dates in two-lines. The opposite side of the slide is marked "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 32 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" in two-lines below the ejection port. The frame is serial numbered "564655" above the trigger and a small Ordnance Corps escutcheon is stamped behind the safety with the right side marked "U.S. PROPERTY" above the trigger. The Colt "V/P" triangle proofmark is stamped on the left side of the trigger guard bow. The magazine has a blue finish and is marked "CAL 32/COLT" on the floor plate. The pistol was inspected/proofed by the Birmingham Proof House with a British "Crown/BNP" proof stamped on the right side of the slide behind the ejection port, the barrel's chamber area is marked "Crown/BNP .32 .675/12 TONS PER Square" and the frame is stamped with the "Crossed Sceptre" with "F/B/2" on each side and underneath the Scepters. The pistol has the late gray parkerized finish with checkered walnut stocks inlaid with German Silver Colt medallions. This pistol is complete with the original Colt instruction manual, cleaning rod and an unmarked blue extra magazine. The pistol is housed in the original GI brown cardboard box that is marked on the underside with the serial number of the pistol and "BNP", as well as the serial number on the end flap of the lid. Additionally the top of the lid has a small, very old yellow label that reads "Colt, .32 AUTO PARK. LAEK" with a price tag of $59.95 from Klein's Department store in Chicago.

Gauge: 32 ACP
Finish: parkerize
Grips: walnut checkered

Excellent with 99% of the gray parkerized finish overall, with a hint of edge wear. The walnut grips are very fine plus with nice distinct checkering showing some minor handling marks. The accessories are all in excellent condition and the box is very good with clear markings and label on top with scuffing on the corners and some edges with one corner slightly broken out. An excellent like new example of a WWII British Colt Model 1903 pistol.
