The included Colt factory letter confirms the caliber, barrel length, rubber grips and nickel finish. The revolver was shipped to Hartley & Graham, New York, New York, on February 28, 1884 as part of a 100 gun shipment. The top of the barrel is stamped with the two line Hartford address: "COLT'S PT.FA. MFG. Co/HARTFORD CT". The left side of the frame has the three line, three patent dates marking and the left side of the trigger guard is stamped "45 CAL." The matching serial number is stamped on the frame, trigger guard and back strap with the grips having the number "43" on the backs. The assembly number "9778" is stamped on the loading gate. Fitted with a set of checkered hard rubber grips featuring the Rampant Colt inside an oval at the top and the American eagle at the bottom.

Condition:
Fine. The revolver retains 40% of the original nickel finish with the balance a smooth gray patina showing some minor flaking and a couple areas of mild pitting. The grips are very fine with a small chip missing near the bottom (left panel) and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
