Fine 19th C. double head Chinese drum from early Deadwood China town. Collected by Don Clowser and purchased directly from him by the consignor in 1976. Brum shows remarkable condition, 10" diameter, wood segmented body with traces of original red pigment both goat leather heads with wonderful dragon motifs the front signed. Attached with 5 forged square shank large dome hand tacks, tow of which are missing, original scribe lines intaact. Often over looked, Chinese history in early mining camps and towns played and interesting and important role however artifacts from this period and culture rarely surface. Most certainly used for Chinese celebrations and parades the drum remains in extremely good to fine condition. Includes letter from consigor in regars to provenence. Est. 1000-2000
