DS in Spanish, one page with cover sheet, 9 x 13.75, January 22, 1960. Official document for “Law No. 709,” declaring the dissolution of the regulatory commission of the ‘Plaza de Marti.’ Signed at the conclusion by Castro as prime minister, Osvaldo Dorticos Torrado as president, and Osmany Cienfuegos Gorriaran as minister of public works. The blue seal and ribbon affixed to the lower right remain fully intact. In very good condition, with expected document wear, tears and paper loss to left side, and stains to upper left. The Plaza de Marti, now known as the Plaza de la Revolucion, is a main city square in Havana and is notable as the location of numerous political rallies and gatherings. The centerpiece is the Jose Marti Memorial, a 350–foot tall tower built in honor of the early Cuban national hero.
