Schodt, Alph. de. MÉDAILLES ROMAINES INÉDITES. Bruxelles, 1879. 8vo, original printed card covers. (4), 44 pages; 120 listings of Roman coins; 4 lithographic plates by Lavalette. Inscribed by the author to Félix Feuardent on the inside cover. A bit wrinkled and worn; still very good. With handwritten letter by Heinrich Dressel dated 7 juin 1887 on the letterhead of the General-Verwaltung der Koeniglichen Museen enclosing a 16-leaf handwritten inventory of Roman coins in the museum cabinet on embossed Königliche Museen notepaper. Also includes an 8-page handwritten inventory prepared by Dr. Ferdinande Szukits and dated 29 décembre 1888 listing 108 Roman coins for inclusion in the second edition of Cohen. All manuscript materials are fine or nearly so. A very interesting lot, with significant handwritten inventories prepared by prominent numismatists in an effort to assist Félix Feuardent as he compiled the second edition of Cohen on Roman imperial coins, which was published in eight volumes between 1880 and 1892.
