Fernand Roda, Four Postcards in Mixed Media, 2000/2005
The Luxembourgian artist Fernand Roda offers us here an insight into his colourful and playful pictorial worlds. Roda takes the inspiration for his images from nature, however, he is certainly not a landscape painter in the traditional sense. As seen in these four postcards, he creates abstract pictorial worlds of figural forms in applying different layers of paint on top of each other. The four postcards are created in mixing technique. Two of the postcards depict abstract compositions and the two other postcards show fabulous creatures.

The postcards are signed lower right ‘Roda’ each. Three of them are dated lower right ‘2000/2005’.

The four postcards are matted and framed. The postcards, as well as the frames, are in very good condition with minimal traces of wear. The dimensions of the postcards are each ca. 15 x 10.5 cm. The total dimensions, including the frames, are each 33 x 26.7 cm.

Fernand Roda (b. 1951)

Fernand Roda was born in Luxembourg in 1951. He studied at the Art Academy in Dusseldorf, his fellow students included artists like Jörg Immendorf and Blinky Palermo. In 1975, he was a master student of Joseph Beuys. In the 80s, Roda initially devoted himself to large-scale figurative painting. In his works, he primarily deals with the theme of nature. His ‘nature images’, which he conceives in series, occupy a liminal space between abstraction and figuration. Today Fernand Roda lives and works in Dusseldorf. (tm)
