Manuscript DS signed by, one page, 8.25 x 11, dated April 8, 1510, in old Spanish. An order to Dona Beatriz Maldonado, wife of el Licenciado Pedrosa to appoint a replacement for Diego de Salamanca who was to be released as not being qualified for his post, boldly signed "Yo El Rey" at top-center. Salamanca would go on to redeem himself in the eyes of the King: he sailed to the Indies in 1512 and Cuba by 1519, and eventually helped aid in the capture of Tenochitlan, for which he would be awarded wide swaths of farmland by Cortez. In very good condition, with edge creasing and wrinkles, light show-through from reinforcement to vertical folds on reverse, a couple partial separations to folds, a couple folds through signature, and some mild toning. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
