Federal Double Chest of Drawers
probably Indiana, ca 1815-1825, of cherry with pine and poplar secondary. A rare form with distinctive reeded edge top, and linen-fold, carved pilasters. The four pairs of adjacent scratch-beaded drawers have brass escutcheons and original brasses, the case rising on turned legs; 48" high x 79" wide x 20.5" wide.

Note: Possibly the work of William Tate, Lawrenceburg, Indiana,(w. 1814-1846). Cowan's sold an Indiana bow front chest of drawers, October 17, 2008, Lot #639, with the same distinctive linen-fold carved pilasters. For another similar Tate form, see Walters, PL. VIII.
