Federal Cherry Inlaid Butlers Desk, possibly Southeastern United States, c. 1800. Having a rectangular top above a cockbeaded case of four drawers with original ivory eschcutcheons and ebony inlay to the face of the top drawer. The top drawer drops down to reveal a wonderfully designed work surface containing multiple drawers and arched pigeon hole compartments in addition to a felt covered work surface. Constructed of cherry with figured cherry to the drawer fronts and yellow pine secondary woods, this chest is likely from the mid-atlantic region. Brass pulls are original. No structural restorations and the surface appears to be original.
