1907, Missouri. Stock certificate for eight shares. Issued to and signed on verso by WILLIAM P.G. HARDING (1864-1930) American banker, Chairman of the Federal Reserve, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and managing director of the War Finance Corporation. Orange/Black. Vignette of steam locomotive at top center. Litho. Punch and stamp cancelled and very fine. Perforation cancellation lightly affects Harding’s signature. Overall Very Fine. Conceived in 1900 by A.E. Stilwell, the Kansas City, Mexico and Orient Railway was the predecessor to the Chihuahua al Pacifico railroad in Mexico. In the wake of a 1912 bankruptcy, the AT & SF acquired the line in 1928, largely in order to gain access to the west Texas old fields.
