Fats Domino, Little Richard 1956 Philadelphia Previously Unknown Jumbo Concert Poster. An original cardboard window card advertising "The Biggest Rock 'n' Roll Show of 1956" at the Tower Theatre in Philadelphia, PA for two shows on Wednesday evening, April 4, 1956. The stars of the show were Fats Domino, Little Richard (just starting out), Ruth Brown, Little Willie John, The Clovers, The Cadillacs, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, The Turbans and Ann Cole, all backed by Choker Campbell Orchestra. Legendary Philadelphia DJ Georgie Woods presented the show, and is pictured nicely. The delightful thing about this piece is that our consignor actually went to the early show65 years ago, pulled down the poster and took it home, and has had it ever since! And this is the only copy of this poster that the poster-collecting community has ever seen. It's not a tour blank; it was printed by Posters, Inc. right there in Philly for this one show only.

We love the way "Ain't That a Shame" is given under headliner Fats Domino's name. That was Fats' first crossover hit to the pop charts, where it reached the Top 10 in 1955. Likewise with Little Richard and "Tutti-Frutti," which had crept into the pop Top 20. Rock and roll was on its way. Measures 22" x 28" and grades to dry-mounted Fair condition. COA from Heritage Auctions.
