American Roman Catholic priest (1886–1948) best known for founding Boys Town, where he espoused an education-based approach to reforming ‘wayward’ youths. He was immortalized on screen by Spencer Tracy in the 1938 film Boys Town, for which Tracy won an Academy Award. Vintage matte-finish 9.5 x 7.25 (possibly trimmed) photo of Flanagan at his desk, signed and inscribed in white ink “To my very dear pals, Gene & George, With every best wish & God’s blessing, Father Flanagan, Boys Town, Neb, June ‘39.” Framed to an overall size of 10.5 x 8.25. In fine condition. Gene Buck was a Broadway producer and the longtime president of ASCAP from 1924-1941.
