One of the rarest and most desireable of all Nevada trade tokens. This piece was found in Dun Glen in July, 1975. It has an apparent XF obverse and only a few spots on the reverse. It has been unknown to the collecting community. The first time I ever heard of this token was about 1976 or 1977 when I was doing the Dayton flea market. A fellow came up to me with one, which was the only one known at the time (previously unknown), and I called Jack Haddock, who raced over the hill and bought it from the guy. For years, that was the only one known. Farrell was one of hundreds of post-1900 mining camps that sprung up in the c1905-1910 period, only to go bust after insufficient ores were located. The town boomed in 1907 with 75 tents, according to Paher in Nevada Ghost Towns and Mining Camps. It was near Mazuma and Seven Troughs. The burro is typical of the Nevada desert. Some of the old prospectors used to humorously call them the "state bird". - HKA#66343
