Fanzine Lot (1960s/1970s). No editor embraced the burgeoning comics fandom that blossomed in the 1960s more fully than Julius Schwartz, probably because he had been a fanzine editor in his own youth, publishing the science fiction zine The Time Traveller with Mort Weisinger in 1932. As a result, virtually every fan-editor of the day sent copies of their ditto masterpieces to Mr. Schwartz, and Julie enjoyed an especially close relationship with Alter-ego founder/editor Jerry Bails. Offered in this lot is a nice selection of fanzines from the '60s and '70s, mostly published by Bails. Included are: Who's Who in Comic Fandom 1964 Edition (ditto, 20 pages; condition: VG/FN); Who's Who in Comic Fandom, Supplement to the 1964 Edition (ditto, 50 pages; condition: FN); The Who's Who of American Comic Books, Volume One (1973, 70 pages; condition: VG/FN); A four-page pamphlet listing the Alley Award winners for 1962 (Julie won for Best Editor of a Comics Group), as well as an article on the presentation of the awards (Condition: FN); Voice of Comicdom #5 (1965, 8 pages; Condition: FN); The Panelologist v11 #2 (1986, 52 pages; condition: FN/VF); The Panelologist Presents The Who's Who of American Comics Books (1986, 36 pages; condition: VF); Omniverse #1 (1977, 44 pages). All books are signed "Personal copy of Julius Schwartz." Also included are tearsheets of an article ("Myth Maker") from Comics Scene #54 on Julie's fanzine work. This is a superb package of fanzine, especially given the provenance of having come from Julie's personal files. From the personal collection of Julius Schwartz.
