Fantastic and historic carved walrus-ivory dagger which shows naval motifs, top surmounted by Czar with two attendants. The front of dagger shows naval anchor, walrus heads, naval motifs and reads “On the sea the Russians / Are victorious / 1701 / To the Great Great Grandson of/ Peter the Great/ From / The Officers and Men of the Russian Fleet / 1870” on the front. Reverse reads “Russians Ships / With the Spirit of Mercury/ Built by / Bazhenin / 1694 / Hovgorodskaya / Dvinskaya Land / Zabolocyeskaya Czud / Arkhangelsk”. All of this lettering is meticulously carved in high relief and also shows Russian naval crests, ships, and double eagles with Czar Alexander the 2nd's crest. The three figures at top show the Czar at center being handed a scroll over his shoulder by a royal dress gentleman, and over his other shoulder, a similarly dressed manholding a ship.
