Manufactured in the 1880s, this Merwin Hulbert & Co. Pocket Army double action revolver features a round barrel, fluted cylinder, top strap and bird's head butt. The revolver is profusely engraved with the distinctive Merwin Hulbert & Co. style. The left side of the frame under the cylinder is marked "CALIBRE/WINCHESTER" followed "1873" and the right side of the frame is marked "MERWIN HULBERT & CO. N.Y./POCKET ARMY". The left side of the barrel has the two-line address/patent date marking inside a double line border. The barrel, frame sides and top of the back strap feature a fine floral engraving. The cylinder flats and the barrel lug sides features a checkered board or dot and diamond pattern which extends to the right rear of the frame. A dot scroll pattern is engraved on the sliding loading gate. The left side plate is engraved with a stag scene. The serial number "8362" is stamped near the butt, on the rear of the barrel lug and on the rear cylinder face with the assembly number "92" stamped on the left side of the frame under the grip panel. The hammer is stamped with the 1885 patent date and has a folding spur which is marked with the number "85". Nickel finish with casehardened hammer, trigger guard and trigger and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips.

Excellent. The revolver retains 95% plus original nickel finish with some light flaking. The hammer, trigger and trigger guard retain traces of original case colors. The grips are excellent with limited light handling marks near the bottoms and crisp checkering. The engraving is crisp. Action functions but is out of time; does not lock up. This is an exceptional Factory Engraved Merwin Hulbert Pocket Army Revolver.
