FRANK VANDERLIP (1864-1937) Banker and government official. During WWI, Vanderlip served as Chairman of the War Savings Committee. Working closely with James Stillman at National City Bank, Vanderlip introduced a series of important banking innovations during the period and succeeded Stillman as the bank's president. Typed Letter Signed, "F.A. Vanderlip," on THe National City Bank letterhead. One page, 8" x 10". New York. December 5, 1918. Vanderlip writes to The Globe and Commercial Advertiser, in part: " ... The National City Bank prides itself upon being one of the old institutions of New York City, but The Commercial Advertiser recorded its brith, and had then been here for twenty years. One of the great cities of the world has grown up about us ...
