Falling Skies Waschak-Cha'ab Figure w/ SFX Movie Costumes
Season 5, Episode 4 (19:42 minutes) - This Waschak-Cha'ab body, head, and Special FX rig are used in the Cochise transplant scene. In the first human-Volm operation in history, Anne Glass-Mason (Moon Bloodgood) uses a Volm precision surgical laser as a scalpel to open the resilient exoskeletal sheath (skin) of Cochise's father, Waschak-Cha'ab (John H. Mayer) during transplant surgery. The blue laser "scalpel" makes an 8-inch incision in Waschak-Cha'ab's abdomen, allowing Anne to remove one of his two healthy kidney-like organs for successful transplant into Cochise (Doug Jones), whose sole "kidney" is failing. Todd Masters of Masters FX and his special effects team have combined cutting-edge technology, animatronic artists, and actors like Doug Jones and John H. Mayer to bring the Volm creatures sublimely to life. Honorable and steadfast, the Volm’s wideset eyes bespeak their intelligence and trustworthiness. The actor’s mouth is real, just underneath its Volm exterior, while the final touches such as eye direction, breathing, facial and jaw movement, dynamic breathing, and blinking are all FX-given. The special FX rig was used to manipulate Waschak-Cha'ab's body during filming. Made of latex, plastic, metal, and wood. Approx. 84" x 25" x 12".
