Falling Skies Season 4 Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) Epictetus Book
Season 4, Episode 12 (37:09 minutes) - Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) opens his "The Moral Discourses of Epictetus" book, as he contemplates mankind's fate aboard a nearly-defunct Beamer Airship adrift between the Espheni-inhabited moon and human-inhabited earth. Given to Tom by Anne Glass-Mason (Moon Bloodgood), this book ironically mirrors Tom's life. In it, the Greek speaking Stoic philosopher named Epictetus, born a slave in circa 55 A.D., examines the relationship between cosmic determinism and human freedom. In a twist of irony, Epictetus' battle for self-determination mirrors the humankind battle against the Esphenis. Fittingly, Tom reads Anne's handwritten inscription inside the book, "You're the reason I'm stilling fighting. Love Always, Anne Mason." Hardcover book, tan color. Approx. 7" x 4 1/2".
