Falling Skies Pope (Colin Cunningham) Faraday Suit of Armor
Season 4, Episode 3 - Screen worn by John Pope (Colin Cunningham), this Faraday Suit of Armor pairs with the Faraday Helmet, Faraday Jumpsuit, and Faraday Bomb Backpack. The Suit of Armor and Helmet work together to shield the wearer from electrocution. Season 4, Episode 3 (26:20 minutes) - In a tightly timed mission, Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) distracts the Espheni forces while Colonel Weaver (Will Patton) and John Pope (Colin Cunningham) help escape-artist Dingaan (Treva Etienne) put on his Faraday outfit and climb an electrified fence. When Dingaan's hand is crushed by falling debris, the Colonel insists on replacing him. In an improbably heroic act, John Pope steps to fore and convinces the Colonel that he's the best man for the job. In this potentially lethal mission, Pope must scale a high-voltage fence at its obelisk and place a 2nd Mass ammonium nitrate bomb against the Espheni power cord on the other side. Pope's Faraday outfit only protects him from electrocution for 90 seconds, so his mettle is tested when he nears the top of the fence but drops the bomb after fighting off an attack by a Black Hornet. Season 4, Episode 3 (30:12 minutes) - Recognizing he must risk electrocution to retrieve the bomb he dropped, Pope looks down at the bomb and hesitates. Colonel Weaver mutters, "He's gonna bail and save himself." However, when Pope retrieves the bomb and continues the mission, the Colonel faintly smiles and remarks, "I thought I was going to have to shoot him." Season 4, Episode 3 (31:02 & 32:25 minutes) - The Faraday outfit gives out, and the electrical shock causes Pope to fall to the ground unconscious. He eventually recovers and plants the bomb, but it isn't enough. Furious, Pope finds a piece of rebar and bashes the Espheni power cord until it finally gives way. Season 4, Episode 2 (16:25 minutes) - The Faraday outfit was originally introduced as a way to escape the Espheni prison, where the 2nd Mass was held captive. Engineered by Dingaan as a Faraday shield, the gladiator-style helmet and suit of armor channel electricity along conductive material such as copper panels, chicken wire, jumper cables, and copper wiring in an elaborate design to prevent the electricity from going through the mesh and harming the wearer (per British scientist Michael Faraday's discovery). This Faraday Suit of Armor includes the chest plate, shoulder pieces, arm pieces, waist armor, and leg armor. Made of tin with leather straps and copper wiring.
