Falling Skies Hero Skitter Suit of Armor Movie Props
Season 1, Episode 1 (34:20 minutes) - This unusual hero suit of armor is worn in a memorable moment by lead Skitter Performer Keith Arbuthnot, who played the first Skitter that the 2nd Mass got to know up close (in the "Pilot" episode). Todd Masters and his Masters FX team combine cutting-edge technology with animatronic artists, puppeteers, and Skitter Performers to give Skitters personality and emotions that remind us they had loving families before being transformed against their will by the ruthless Esphenis. In this scene, the vulnerable expression on the Skitter's face completely humanize the insect-like alien. The Skitter (played by Keith) wearing this suit of armor climbs down the warehouse shelves in a sneak attack upon Hal Mason (Drew Roy) and Tom Mason (Noah Wyle). His Espheni-programmed moment of glory is short-lived, however, when Dai (Peter Shinkoda) shoots him from behind. As the fatally injured Skitter bleeds out on the floor, the entire 2nd Mass splinter group stands above him and watches with empathy as the intelligent, docile alien dies alone looking into the faces of humans. Scared and far from home, the Skitter dies without his loved ones but seemingly grateful for the shared empathy of these earth dwellers. This detailed Skitter suit of armor has a layered, copper-colored bodice and shoulder guards akin to the days of Caesar and elaborate, armadillo-like leg guards that protect the bony, exterior knee caps of marauding Skitters. Chestplate and backplate measure approx. 24" x 17" and the leg armor is approx. 22" x 10" x 4".
