Factory Engraved Remington Rider Magazine Pistol
Approximately 10,000 of these magazine pistols were manufactured from 1871 to 1888. This Joseph Rider design is one of the most unusual of 19th century pocket pistols using a tubular magazine, which is located under the barrel. Blade front sight with rear sight being a hole in the cocking lever. Magazine loads from the muzzle end. Standard two line markings on top of the barrel rib. The pistol is nickel plated, with the hammer and trigger blued. The sides of the frame and the backstrap are engraved with a broad leaf floral scroll and punch dot design. The upper barrel flats, top of the frame and the sides of the backstrap have a wavy line and circle design, and the side flats of the barrel have a geometric design. Fitted with smooth two piece rosewood grips.

Excellent. The pistol retains 98% plus original nickel finish with some scattered minor flaking and speckled "blistering" of the finish. The trigger has a smooth silver gray patina and the hammer retains most of the original bright blue finish with some light spotting. The grips are very fine retaining 75% original varnish showing wear on the high edges and a few minor dings and scratches overall. Crisp and clear markings and engraving. Mechanically excellent.
