Factory Engraved Holland & Holland Under Lever 10 Bore Double Barrel Hammer Rifle with Sling

This massive 10 bore rifle has 24 inch rifled barrels with a solid rib and dolls head extension. The rib is matted from the front sight back 5 5/8 inches and from the breech to the back of the rear sight, the remainder of the rib is smooth. Blade front sight with a fold down brass sight with an ivory sighting face and the rear sight is a "v" notch fixed sight. The top rear of the right barrel is marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON" and the right barrel is marked "WINNER OF ALL THE FIELD RIFLE TRIALS LONDON" and the receiver left side of the is marked "CHARGE 8 DRAMS 3 1/4 INCH CASE". Each lock is marked "HOLLAND/&/HOLLAND". The receiver, lock plates, hammers, break lever and forearm hardware feature an English scroll engraving. The barrel flats are marked with various British proofs, with the matching serial number and "G22OP". The water table is marked with a "crown/V" proof and the matching serial number on each side. Mounted with a multi-point checkered walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with an engraved steel grip cap, cheekpiece, solid recoil pad, gold initial oval and white leather sling. Length of pull is 14 inches, drop at comb is 1 3/4 inches, drop at heel is 2 3/4 inches, cast off is 1/4 inch.

Very good. The barrels have a smooth brown patina showing some traces of thin blue finish. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth gray patina. The wood is good with some minor dings, scratches and moderate sanding wear present overall and on the checkering. The sling is good with replacement loops (brown leather) , showing some flexing cracks and soiling. The markings are engraving are crisp and clear. Mechanically fine.
