Factory Engraved Gold Inlaid Gaulois Palm Pistol with Rare  Cigar  Case
All sides of the frame and operating arm are decorated with floral scroll engraving. The top of the barrel has "GAULOIS", the crossed cannons and arrow logo inlayed in gold on a high polished blue surface, with a wedge of scroll engraving on each side of the muzzle. There is a silver bead front sight. The top of the frame is marked in gold "CAL./ 8m/m" over the chamber with the full company marking "MANUFACTURE FRANCAISE / SAINT-ETIENNE" in a circle between gold lines surrounding "ARMES/ ET/ CYCLES" at the rear. The left side of the frame has circled "S", "F" and "D" in gold inlay. The pistol is blue with the operating arm having a casehardened finish with a hard rubber checkered pad. The sliding dust cover is finely serrated and the safety are engraved with simple patterns. Complete in a brown leather "cigar" case.

Condition: Period refinished. The barrel retains half of the dull refurbished blue finish with some minor spotting and pitting. The frame has gray and brown patina overall with scattered minor pitting. The operating arm has a smooth grayish brown patina. The hard rubber pad is loose. Almost all of the gold inlay is intact, some is absent on the rear frame marking. The engraved and markings are clear. The action is fine. The case is fine.
