This Model 1851 Navy Cartridge Conversion Revolver features a scroll factory engraving on the frame, hammer, breech end of the barrel and butt, with the engraving extending to the trigger guard and top and bottom of the back strap. The hammer has five dots on spur, denoting a high grade of embellishment by Gustave Young's shop. The barrel has the one line New York address with the letter "G" on the left trigger guard shoulder, and an embellished "COLT'S/PATENT" in a slight upward arch on left side of frame. Cylinder has the navy scene. Matching numbers on barrel, frame, grip straps and cylinder. Fitted with a one-piece ivory grip featuring a relief carved Mexican snake and eagle on the right side.

Condition: Good as period replated. The revolver retains 70% of the nickel finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The exposed brass having an aged patina. There is some scattered minor pitting. The attractive grip is fine with a few hairline age cracks on the bottom, the letter "X" carved on the left side near at the top and a triangle carved on the right side near the top. The ivory has aged to a yellow color. Mechanically fine.
