The barrel has a block- mounted front sight located behind the upper barrel band and a First Style carbine, non-adjustable, two-leaf rear sight. A saddle ring is mounted on a staple of the left side of the frame. The carbine-style buttplate has a sliding trap door and the trap contains a jointed steel cleaning rod. All of the metal components have a nickel-plated finish the walnut forearm and well-figured stock have a varnish finish. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped: "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING-ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT./KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 20. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860." between the lower barrel band and the rear sight.
