Factory Documented London Shipped Colt Model 1877 Lightning Double Action Revolver
The accompanying letter states that this revolver was shipped to Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Mfg. Company London Agency, London, England, on 4 November 1880 with an ejector. Fixed sights, with the top of the barrel marked with the two line address, the left side has the very faint etched panel reading "COLT D.A. 38", the left side of the frame is marked with the three line, three patent date marking and the left rear of the trigger guard is marked "38 CAL". The complete matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard and backstrap and "293" appears on the loading gate. London "crown/ V" and "crown/ GP" proofs are visible on the underside of the barrel and on the cylinder behind the flues. Fitted with checkered rosewood one-piece grips.

Condition: Fine with 50% of the faded original blue finish. A smooth brown patina is beginning to form on the barrel and grip straps, some light edge wear on the cylinder and light muzzle wear. There is some limited pin prick pitting on the front of the barrel. The case color has turned a dark silver patina. The grips are very fine with some minor nicks in the checkering and on the butt. Operates fine in single action, double action operation requires adjustment.
