19th century, perhaps even older, height 134 cm, width 19.5 cm, wood with a natural patina. On the geometrical face of the mask there are remains of polychromy (most likely white). The extension bar in the shape of a board is decorated by drilled holes and drawn through ropes in the upper part. The edges are drilled and in the holes there are rests of rope hood. Provenance: Kaya? - Mosi (Burkina Faso), Starting Price: CZK 45,000; USD 1,318; EUR 1,497, Estimated price: (50,000 - 60,000) CZK., The style of the mask belongs to a very old type. The extension bar shape is considered to be the oldest one used on Mosi masks. An antelope symbolises magical abilities and could be seen at rituals connecting with fertility and productiveness.
