Cal. 33. NSN. 39" octagon bbl. is fitted w/ v-notch semi buckhorn rear & brass blade front sights. "S. DRESBACH" is double stamped on top flat (son of John, working in Mifflinburg, PA. 1823-75). Trade percussion lock marked "?? PARKER WARRANTED". Dbl. set triggers are fitted. Fiddle figured walnut full length stock extends to muzzle w/ 2" brass cap & pinned to bbl. Stock is brass mounted. Chamfered trigger guard has rear spur forming grip. Crescent buttplate has 4 1/2" return. A traditional sm. cheekpiece is on left side. Ramrod is missing. Pipes & tailpipe are faceted & beaded. CONDITION: fair to good. Iron parts cleaned to silver gray. Stock w/ attractive hand worn highlights to original dark finish. Wood is sound around lock area except for losses toward top of lock mortice on right side of bbl. tang. w/ a number of long cracks & some losses along bbl. channel. Good bore, strong rifling. Lock & triggers are operable. Sideplate an ill-fitting replacement. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19628/MGM). ANTIQUE. $1,000-1,500.
