FULL PLATE TINTYPE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE YANKEE. A large oval tintype measuring approximately 10 x 8" featuring a bearded veteran smoking a pipe while posed against an intricate painted canvas backdrop. No identification. The original wooden backing contains a large advertising stamp attributing the photograph and the exclusive "silvertype" process to "H.P. Moore, Concord, N.H." Moore may have claimed to own the descriptor of "silvertype" but the end result was the same as the tintype. This is a case of a photographer trying to set himself apart from the competition and appeal to the consumer by recasting the same process with a more appealing name. The plate show minor scuffing with several creases and dents. GOOD. The original oval frame is missing.
