FRIEDRICH DOLLMAN
(1876-1944) German general and commander of the German 7th Army at the time of the D-Day landings, with direct responsibility for the defense of the Normandy coastline. On D-Day, he was in Rennes, unable to react, Rommel was absent for most of the day and Hitler refused to release the Panzers until too late in the day. By June 26, Dollman was professionally ruined, and died either from a heart attack...or suicide. Scarce D.S., 1p. 8vo., "Army Headquarters" [n.p.], Apr. 20, 1941 (Hitler's birthday), notice of an award of the War Cross Second Class with Swords to a 7th Army officer in his command. Very good.

Estimate: $300 - 400.
