French 950 silver teapot made early 19th century.
Weighs 1lb 6 oz. 7 1/2inches tall.
Classic French elegance. Round bottomed teapot supported on 4 acanthus leaf shaped legs, curving and tapering towards the bottom, enhanced by a fluted and bowed central raised panel. Delicately curving spout with long mouth to facilitate clean pouring also decorated with raised foliage and a central panel echoing those on the legs. Front and back are identical with an oval enclosed in raised foliage and gently engraved with a monogram. Handle has ivory inlays for heat protection. The lid has a sunburst of raised gadroon work in the centre, from which the finial emerges in the form of a beautifully modelled pineapple/budding flower.
Marks include the Minerva, used for .950 silver items since 1838. Underneath is the diamond shaped lozenge with makers mark that contains A stork 1.
Excellent condition. The only fault is a minute dent on the inside of the lid, where it is entirely hidden.
