Abolitionist, gifted orator and escaped slave who was a leader of the Underground Railroad in NY and helped to raise two black Massachusetts regiments during the Civil War. He edited the abolitionist newspaper <i>North Star</i>. Bold signature beneath sentiment on 3½"x2¼" card, adding “<i>May 30th, 1872</i>.” Boldly penned. Attractively displayed beside a CDV quarter-length portrait in Lucite display case. Warren’s, Boston, MA backstamp. Card evidences light soiling; o/w VG. Bottom corner tips clipped at bottom of CDV; surface abrasions; o/w Good.</span></p>

1. Auction Catalogue No. 19 is a Mail, Fax, Phone, Email and
Internet Live Bid Auction and is conducted under the laws of the State
of West Virginia by Gil Griggs, Licensee of Charleston, W. V. License
No. 002.
2. Absentee bid closing date is April 5th, 2002, 10:00 PM EST.
3. There is a 15% Buyer’s Premium charged on the final hammer price
of each lot. An additional 2½% Premium will be added to any lots
purchased through ebayliveauctions.com.
4. The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid for any
reason.
5. The Auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw any lot for any
reason.
6. In the event of duplicate high bids, the earliest bid received
will be the winner.
