FREDERIC REMINGTON (American. 1861-1909) "The Sergeant". Signed Frederic Remington, stamped No. 19, Roman Bronze Works, N.Y. Bronze with Brown Patina. Height 10 1/4". According to Michael Greenbaum, Remington's decision to create "The Sergeant" may have been inspired by a suggestion from Riccardo Bertelli that Remington should try making smaller, less costly works thus appealing to a greater portion of the buying public.
