FRANTISEK KUPKA (Frank)<BR>Opocno 1871- 1957 Paris (Czech) <BR><BR>Study for "Soleil d'Automme" / Nude Woman Kneeling- Circa 1905 <BR>Original Stamped Signed Double Sided Pencil/Charcoal Drawing <BR><BR>Title : Study for "Soleil d'Automme" / Nude Woman Kneeling . <BR><BR>Technique : Original Double face Pencil and Charcoal drawing on brown paper. <BR><BR>Paper Size : 33 X 25 cm / 13 X 10 inch. <BR><BR>Additional Information : This is a very beautiful double face drawing by the famous Czech artist Frantisek Kupka.<BR>It is an early work form the beginning of the century, probably 1905.<BR>There are two drawing on the paper:<BR>Front side: There is a drawing of a nude model standing and in the lower part there is another drawing of a face of a man.<BR>This is probably a study drawing for the famous oil painting from 1905-1906, titeled "Soleil d'Automme" (currently in the collection of Narodni galerie in Praque).<BR>There are known to be several studies for this painting as between 1902-1906, Kupka didn't participate in any exhibition in Paris, and devoted himself to his work. For example, there are 7 different studies for "Soleil d'Automme" in the current major Kupka exhibition in Musse d'Orsay, Paris - "Vers des Temps Nouveaux, Kupka, Oeuvres Graphiques 1894-1912" (Cat. 224,-230).<BR>Back side: There is a beautiful drawing of a nude woman kneeling and stretching her arm to the floor.<BR>The work is stamped with the artist's signature stamp in the front side. <BR><BR>Condition : Generally in Good Condition. some short tears in the edges of the paper and one 4cm tear in the lower corner. The paper have discolored in the center. glue tape remains in the upper and lower margins.
