<B>FRANK REDLINGER (1909-1936)</B></I><BR><I>Back Lot,</B></I> 1933<BR>Block print<BR>9 1/2in. x 13in.<BR>Signed and dated lower right<BR>Titled lower left<BR><BR>Frank Redlinger, at the behest of his sister, submitted his block prints to the Texas Centennial Exposition Department of Fine Arts for inclusion in the exhibition. This print was selected by jury for inclusion in this landmark exhibition. Redlinger fell ill a few weeks before the exhibition opened and died an untimely death at the age of twenty six. With his death, Texas lost its most promising and accomplished practitioner of the block-print medium.<BR><BR>The artist prospectus for the Texas Centennial Exhibition with Frank Redlinger's notation of submitted works is included with this lot. His handwriting evidences he submitted three works: <I>Desert Shadows - $10.00; Back Lot - $5.00;</B></I> and <I>A Dogie Comes Home - $5.00.</B></I><BR><BR>The preparatory pencil drawing from which the block print was made is included with this lot.
