Framed color lithograph titled "The Great Fight" between Tom Hyer & Yankee Sullivan. All individuals are numbered and named on bottom. Text reads "Presented by the New York Illustrated Times the leading and best Sporting Journal in America, 15 Murray Street, New York." "The fight took place Feb. 7, 1849 on Still penal heights, Kent Co. Maryland & was won by Hyer-16 Rounds in 17 minutes and 18 seconds." Lithograph itself shows staining and one minor tear at bottom center. Lithograph comes with news article from the Kent County News dated August 8, 1973 about the fight and Hyers subsequent arrest in Philadelphia. Lithograph also comes with a letter dated February 7, 1962 from its owner at the time to the Baltimore Sun in reference to an article that ran in the Sun in the previous week. This lithograph represents an important piece of boxing history as well as Maryland history. 23" x 19" framed.
